New Patient Visit with Dr. Julie M. Barter

New patient consultations are thorough! Dr. Barter will take time to fully understand your case by obtaining a full medical history, performing physical exam, and then design an individualized treatment plan that may include any combination of naturopathic therapies.  Evaluation may include any lab work that you bring with you, careful attention to the entire the symptom picture, assessment of the meridian system and internal organ function via the tongue & pulses and assessment of musculo-skeletal issues via muscle testing as well as a variety of in-office tests. Wellness Visits

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

What do these conditions have in common?

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Dementia
  • Cancer
They are all modifiable and preventable to a larger extent than the mainstream media would have you believe.  With many of the risk factors well defined, and other ones being clarified and elucidated all the time, in partnership with good functional medicine care, you can reduce your chances of falling prey to all these conditions.

Functional medicine utilizes sophisticated analysis of your symptoms and labs to make changes in your health that often can't be accomplished with medications alone.  Dr. Barter encourages people who consider themselves healthy to come in for assessment once per year.  Many people who think they already are healthy are amazed at how much better they feel with just a little bit of preventive maintenance.  Common feedback from clients who utilize the preventative functional medicine approach is experiencing increased energy and stamina, clearer and sharper cognition, fewer aches and pains, better sleep and digestion, and less frequent illness.

Not to mention how priceless it is to prevent falling prey to the major killers and robbers of quality of life in America.
People understand the need to maintain their vehicle with regular oil changes, tire rotations, fluid top-offs and the like.  If a car needs regular maintenance, a human body certainly deserves routine care as well.

While all this is still far from the mind of the medical mainstream, it is the strength of the naturopathic and functional medicine physicians.

Phone Consults and Second Opinions

Live too far away to be able to visit the office in person every visit?
No problem.  Dr. Julie Barter works over the phone or Skype as a consultant for people with health concerns from Alaska to Maine.  As long as Dr. Barter can physically examine you 1-2 times per year, appointments in between can be remote..  If you don't have the necessary labs, Dr. Barter will help you obtain those in your area.

Are your labs "normal" but you still have symptoms?
Thanks to her highly specialized Naturopathic training, Dr. Barter is an expert in finding out from the labs you’ve already had performed what’s causing your symptoms.  Whereas most conventional physicians are only looking for parameters that fall outside of a very wide “normal” range, she is trained to read results that give hints about vitamin and mineral deficiencies, chronic hidden infections, chemical toxicity, chronic inflammation, food sensitivities, and many other contributing factors to illness that frequently go undiscovered on routine lab review.

Dr. Barter is interested in optimal function of all body systems, not merely the absence of red flags. She will go over these details with you whether you’re in her office or consulting via phone.
